Origins Of Coral’s Care Counseling
Why is my practice called Coral’s Care Counseling?
It was inspired by the unconditional acceptance and love from my Therapy Dog, Coral. Coral was my steady throughout my early adulthood as I began my clinical journey. Coral was the epitome of resilience, as she was found as a puppy abandoned with a broken leg in the desert. Through her rescue she was always gentle and sweet and loved everyone and every being she interacted with. As a certified therapy dog, she assisted me in my practice from when she was 4 years old until she retired at 13. I saw her profound impact on the healing of my clients and was inspired by her ability to accept everyone as they are without judgement. I work to embody her qualities in my practice with every client.
Who Am I?
When seeking out a therapist, you typically want to find someone that you feel comfortable with and will be able to relate to you. I hope sharing some about myself, my experience and show some of my personality, you will find that I am the right fit for your healing journey.
Professional Experience:
I started practicing in 2014 where I began my clinical career working at an Animal Assisted Counseling non-profit in Arvada, Colorado. There I had the opportunity to work with many therapy animals to facilitate healing with my clients. While at my time working at the ranch, I worked with clients of all ages and all presenting issues, building and growing my clinical expertise. I continued on to achieve the Internship Coordinator and began to supervise new clinicians. My passion in guiding and building the confidence of new clinicians to provide quality care began and has continued to grow.
In 2019, I had the unique opportunity to move overseas to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to work as a clinician serving our Navy service members, their families and veterans. In this position I provided counseling, with special focus on sexual trauma, suicidality, domestic violence and child abuse. After 3 years in the GTMO sun and blue waters, I transferred to Georgia/Florida where I continued my government service working with the submarine forces. This expanded my experience working with those who have high stress work environments and the residual mental health impacts that brings.
After 5 years away, I decided to return to my home state of Colorado. Upon my return, I worked with the US Air Force Academy Cadets as a Sexual Assault Victim Advocate where I was part of the crisis response team for those who were experiencing Military Sexual Trauma. Shortly, I had a calling to return to clinical work and to leave government service. I listened to my heart telling me to take the dive to private practice where I get to help those in my community and be able to give more time to my family.
Just Me:
In my time away from working, I have a passion for traveling, animals, animal rescues, diving the mysteries of the ocean, being out in nature (as long as it is warm outside) and being a loving mother. I have an adventurous desire to see as much of the World as possible, and I’ve been blessed with many travels. My favorite place to explore is India, where I was able to immerse myself into their culture and built lifelong friendships. There continues to be many places on my bucket list and I look forward to immersing myself further with my spouse and child to what the world has to offer.

Symbolism of Coral
Coral symbolizes many qualities that relate to the journey and goals of therapy. Coral often symbolizes strength and courage in helping individuals overcome challenges. It takes great courage to seek therapy and I am always extremely appreciative that a client is willing to share their vulnerabilities and stories with me.
Coral also represents life and the intricate web of interconnectedness, often seen as a guardian of the seas. I believe that through connection, comes healing. As with Coral and other beings, we seek safety in connection and I hope that connecting with me, I can help expand your web of interconnectedness.
In Spirituality, coral symbolizes protection, healing and emotional balance. It is my goal in therapy with you that we seek these qualities in our daily lives to not just survive but thrive.
Personally, Coral represents the ability to regenerate and have hope in times of despair and loss. Our current Coral Reefs around the world are struggling to survive. I have also seen through community, people coming together to protect and revive lost reefs. Our Coral Reefs protect and provide safety and nourishment to our many beautiful underwater species. I hope to continue to represent the resiliency and selflessness of our Coral species in my work as a therapist to serve as safety, protection and regrowth for you.
